Cooking Grills
There is nothing like the taste of grilled food and cooking grills can help you impart that great flavor into your food. There are a variety of grills available, and many of them are fairly inexpensive.
Types of Cooking Grills
The most basic type of grill is a small one that uses charcoal briquettes to cook the food. These can be found cheaply, especially during the summer. The downside to these cooking grills is their size and cleanup. You just can’t cook that much on them at one time and you will have ashes left over from the charcoal.
Fancier cooking grills usually involve propane or natural gas and are usually bigger. Generally speaking, propane is cheaper in the long run than charcoal briquettes to cook with. Some people don’t like these cooking grills since they think food has a better flavor when cooked over charcoal. You can find propane grills in much larger sizes than their charcoal counterparts. These cooking grills can be found at quite a few retailers and have a price tag of anywhere from $30 to $2,000 or more.
You can even use cooking grills inside. These types of cooking grills usually fit over a burner on your stove. The meat or vegetables are then cooked on top of it. These grills are actually pretty ingenious since they are usually coated with a non-stick surface and have a built-in place to catch juices and oils from the food as it is cooked. These cooking grills are usually pretty inexpensive, and clean up is easy, since quite often you can put the pieces into the dishwasher.
The biggest debate about cooking grills is whether to choose propane or charcoal. You can find numerous pros and cons to each side, and quite often those who are proponents of one type can be fairly vociferous in their opinions. The only way to determine which you prefer is to experiment. If you’re like a lot of people however, you won’t notice that much of a difference in the way the food tastes once it is taken off the grill. Because there are so many varieties of cooking grills available, it can be a little overwhelming to try and decide which is right for you.
Sample the food at restaurants and friends’ homes. Ask them which kind of grill they use; that might help in making a decision. Do your research and take your time shopping for a grill. Before you know it, you’ll be happily grilling in your backyard and enjoying the rewards of your new grill.
