The Issue of Mobiles

A mobile phone is an electronic telecommunications device, which can basically be used anywhere and everywhere. Most of the current mobiles connect to a cellular network of base stations which is in turn interconnected to the public switched telephone network. Mobiles are classified basically as telephones which are able to use outside of the home, and which have become basically a necessity in today’s world. It is, in fact, hard to find anyone in the present day that does not have a mobile phone, even more than one in fact, as technology continues to expand and increase in popularity all the time. In less than a twenty year span, mobiles have gone from being rare and expensive pieces of technological equipment to pieces that are essential for everyday use.

The Basic Information on Mobiles

There are many positive features with mobiles, which go beyond that of being able to make text messages and voice calls, which includes: Internet browsing, music, personal organizers, email, built-in cameras, camcorders, ringtones, games, radio, infrared, Bluetooth connectivity, call registers, the ability to watch streaming video or download video for later viewing, serving as a wireless modem for a PC, and more.

Mobile Number Portability

As of quite recently, mobile users across the world have benefited from the introduction of mobile number portability. Although the benefits of this have been mostly felt by businesses, as they are the ones who rely most on the use of mobiles for business and marketing their services however, for personal use there have been plenty of benefits for as well. Without the issue of number portability, the costs for of changing mobile service providers far outweighed that of the actual benefits for many of these users.

Are Mobile Phones Harmful to Your Health?

The issue of whether or not mobile phones are harmful to your health has been discussed a lot, especially as of recently. There has been an ongoing debate over whether mobiles are dangerous to your health since as far back as 1980. It is known that mobile phones emit radiofrequency radiation from the handset, and that those low-energy electromagnetic waves which then travel to the head. Regardless of the fierce debate that has gone on over this matter for quite some time now, unfortunately no definite answer has yet been found. This matter also must take into consideration the health benefits or advantages of mobile phones, such as the fact that they have often been used by people who used them to call an ambulance or get out of some other sort of emergency situation.
