Prepaid Cellular Phone
Many people are choosing to the go the route of the prepaid cellular phone nowadays instead of opting for monthly contracts. The reasons for this vary. Most of the time, it’s because they don’t have the credit to qualify for a contract with a major cell phone company. Some people just don’t use their cell phone that often and can’t see spending that much money each month on something they never use. Whatever the reason, the prepaid cellular phone is still a popular option among cell phone customers.
Contracts
Most people, when they get a cell phone, are required to sign a contract with one of the major cell phone companies. However, if you don’t have good credit, you may not qualify. Either that, or you will be required to pay a deposit in order to get your phone turned on. If you don’t qualify for a contract or you don’t have the money for a large deposit, then a prepaid cellular phone may be for you. With a prepaid cellular phone, you pay as you go. Prepaid cellular phone cards are sold at most department stores.
Prepaid cellular phone cards come with a certain amount of minutes on them. With these cards, you call a number to assign those minutes to your phone. When the minutes are used up, you are required to buy another card. This way, you pay as you go and you never have to worry about paying a monthly cell phone bill.
Emergencies Only
The prepaid cellular phone is also great for those people who never use their phone. Some people have a cell phone purely for emergency reasons. These people don’t see the point in paying a monthly phone bill when they hardly ever talk on their cell phone. The prepaid cellular phone allows them to have a cell phone in case they need it without having to pay a monthly cell phone bill.
The drawback of having a prepaid cellular phone is that you may not be eligible for many of the perks that come with having a monthly membership. Examples of some of these perks include web browsing, text messaging and other services that only come with signing a contract. If you only plan to use your phone for talking, then the prepaid cellular phone is probably the way you should go.
Whether you don’t qualify for a monthly contract, can’t afford a costly deposit or simply don’t use your phone enough to warrant signing a contract, a prepaid cellular phone can be a great way to stay connected. Prepaid cards are sold in many stores so you’re never too far from adding additional minutes to your phone. You may not have as many perks as other cell phone customers but you’ll have a cell phone when you need it and you won’t be locked into any costly contracts.
