The Varying Quality of Feng Shui Information Sources
There are a number of sources of Feng Shui information available, the quality of which varies from source to source. Considering that the history and the origins of Feng Shui date back many thousands of years, it would be safe to assume that Feng Shui has endured numerous interpretations and methods of study. In order to truly understand Feng Shui, one must weigh the quality of the source of Feng Shui information one is consulting.
Minor Sources
There are paperbacks sold in bookstores that cover the subject of Feng Shui. The most noble of these fountains of Feng Shui information costs less than three dollars and are stacked on tables adjacent to the long lines one waits in to visit the cashier. These pocket Feng Shui information guides are nothing more than a random string of quotes designed to catch an interested eye and coaxing their purchase with such a low price. It is enlightenment on the go and made easy and accessible for all. In short, it is a gimmick item that passes off as a legitimate source of Feng Shui information and study.
Time and Effort
There is no Feng Shui information crash course. Feng Shui is a philosophy with mystic applications that has been studied for centuries. Yes, there are skeptics, as there will always be when the subject of ancient mysticism abounds. But the core values and tenets of Feng Shui are noble in intention. Feng Shui is about living a healthy and prosperous life.
No matter how the philosophy is simplified for the masses, in order to live a quality life, one must abandon the negative aspects of life one embraces. Smoking, drinking, and carousing all have to go. All this is, of course, far easier to talk about than actually do. This is why Feng Shui information should never be trivialized as rainy day reading material.
Legitimate Sources of Feng Shui Information
Legitimate sources of Feng Shui information will be sources written by scholars and historians and practitioners of Feng Shui. They will be people who have experience in the art and science of Feng Shui. In other words, they will have actual credentials as opposed to manufactured ‘Do It Yourself’ Feng Shui authors who crank out books to cash in on a new age fad. When Feng Shui information comes from a legitimate source, it will have value regardless of belief in the system or not. When the source is hackwork, then all it becomes is trite reading that is insulting to the philosophy it alleges to represent.
