Of course, you are not obligated to buy anything if you only want to attend their workshop. Most of these workshops are free but some of them to charge a small fee. Regardless, you will want to make sure that you register ahead of time so that they can make the necessary arrangements for your attendance.

These classes are advantageous because you can see how to complete the project. You can also pick up the exact supplies on your way out of the store so that you can start your project that very same day. This is also better than watching a home improvement show on TV because you can see the instructions up close and in person. This also allows you to ask questions and look at things from different angles instead of at a two dimensional format.

Home improvement centers also offer a variety of workshops for women and children as well. This gives the entire family something to do. It also allows women and children to learn how to do such things as make a birdhouse from scratch.

Being in a class with many other people has an added advantage in that the other people may ask a question or point out a particular part of the project that you did not think of. This is something that you cannot get by reading a book or watching a television program.
