Three Considerations Before Selecting a Canister Vacuum
That upright vacuum has served you well, but it’s time to select a new and more modern appliance. Of particular concern is the fact that you have been carrying the vacuum cleaner up and down the stairs. The upright vacuum has proven to be quite cumbersome and heavy. You are seriously considering the purchase of a canister vacuum.
A canister vacuum offers a number of advantages in helping with the housework especially when living in a two story home. Before purchasing that canister vacuum it is important to take into account at least three considerations. Those considerations include the convenience of a canister vacuum, the features available and the price.
Convenience
A canister vacuum offers the convenience of performing the vacuuming chore with a smaller and lighter appliance. This light weight feature allows for the appliance to be easily carried up and down stairs. In addition, vacuuming carpeted stairs is easily accomplished with a canister vacuum system.
Other convenient advantages of utilizing a canister vacuum are the use of accompanying attachments. These attachments allow for the easy vacuuming of drapes, the sofa and other pieces of furniture prone to dust collecting.
Features
Included accessories on your canister vacuum may include a number of time saving and work efficient features. These features could include an indicator that measures the fullness of the vacuum bag. Also, an adjustment feature may be included that allows for the vacuuming to correspond to the height of the carpet’s pile. Or, a feature that turns off the vacuuming brush in order to vacuum up the dirt from wooden floors.
Additional features may include a HEPA filter. This particular feature is especially comforting to those who struggle with allergies.
Price
Another important consideration is the price of the canister vacuum. The old adage, “You get what you pay for”, certainly applies to your considered purchase.
Obviously, some brands and models are more expensive than others. These prices reflect the features built into the models, noise level of the appliance and the power of the motor.
For example a basic functional canister vacuum without the features of a two fan motor, multiple attachments, HEPA filter, easily accessible control buttons, etc. will cost far less than a vacuum containing these features. However, a basic and no frill canister vacuum may be the appropriate choice given the fact your home is tiled and the bare floors are only accented with an occasional area rug.
