This is because many retirement homes and communities require that potential members pass that of rigorous physical and mental checks and reviews, and they will often reject applicants with cancer, strokes, or dementia.

Some ideas that you can use that will help you in the selection process include: visit the facilities that you are considering, as at some places you are even allowed to stay overnight and have meals in the dining facility to see how you like it; talk to the residents who are already there, as this will enable you to get a feel of what the atmosphere and service at the home is like; check out the assisted living and nursing facilities, as you will want to make sure that these areas are pleasant, clean, and that they are not isolated from the rest of the community.
